If smoking continues, the death toll will rise to eight million by 2030. Considering the bad effect of smoking, Bangladesh government has signed an agreement with WHO in 2004 to control tobacco. Now smoking is illegal in public places such as bus-stand, rail station, and in any kind of other public transports. Although smoking causes premature death by creating health hazards like stroke, lung cancer, and heart diseases, many people in Bangladesh smoke regularly.
